Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress who has gained recognition for her performance in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun and Beta Saajan. In the 1980s the actress began her acting career and became famous for her role as Tezaab, in which she starred with the veteran actor Anil Kapooor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir as part of Dil. In her early years, the Mumbai-born dancer began developing her skills at a young age. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, but most of those early films were unsuccessful. Then she found her feet and became one of the leading actors within the Indian film industry. In the aftermath of her wedding ceremony, she took a absence from acting until she returned. Recenty, she had an important performance on the film Gulaab Gang. The film was about struggles faced by women in India. Dixit has been nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these she's won eight. The actress was also honoured with the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Also, she is well acknowledged for her work in the field of charity.
